Saturday afternoon 500 kids and their parents lined up outside city hall in the hopes of spotting the Easter Bunny and taking home some prizes. The Chamber of Commerce didn’t disappoint on either front!
Over the last 15 years, the annual event has grown from a few kids searching for eggs in the outfield of Spanjers Park, to a line stretching down the block from city hall. With the growth came the need to modify the egg hunt to an “egg pick”, as kids picked 4 eggs out of baskets and then opened them to discover their prizes.
Prizes included bubbles, books, Play-Do, stuffed animals and brand new bikes.

While the Chamber was the main sponsor, this was truly a community event. Copperfield Hill residents helped stuff the eggs with their prize messages, members of the Robbinsdale Lions, Kiwanis club, Robbinsdale Senior Commission, Armstrong’s National Honor Society and Police reserves helped hand out prizes and keep things orderly.

The Whiz Bang Ambassadors led the first kids in the door and had applications available for this year’s Junior Royalty. Woullet Bakery provided free cupcake coupons and cookie decorating, Nonna Rosa’s served up free Hot Chocolate, North Memorial had height charts and Citizens Bank had their prize wheel spinning.
Despite a cold (but sunny) afternoon, everybody left with a few prizes to help make the wait a little easier. Make sure to mark your calendar for next year’s event!
